1. Introduction
This is my first solo participation in a game jam — built within ~48 hours for GMTK Game Jam 2025. The theme for this year was “Loop,” and I decided to create a short 2.5D action micro-RPG that combines atmospheric storytelling with a simple but impactful combat loop.

2. Concept & Theme Interpretation
The “Loop” is represented both narratively and mechanically:
- Each time the hero dies, the world resets, but their strength and knowledge persist.
- This creates a sense of progress within repetition, where failure is part of growth.
3. Development Process
- Day 1: Defined core mechanic (death → reset → stronger), blocked out basic level layout, implemented movement & combat basics.
- Day 2: Added camera work, post-processing (URP Volume), hit-stop and time-slow feedback, simple enemy AI, and final polishing.
- The biggest challenge was balancing scope and quality within the short timeframe.
4. Key Features
- 2D character over 3D environment, URP cinematic lighting
- Responsive combat: hit-stop, camera impulse, time dilation
- Loop-based progression without complex stats or inventory
5. Post-Jam Thoughts
- This jam taught me to make decisive cuts and focus on what delivers the most impact.
- I realized how much visual atmosphere can elevate a minimal mechanic.
- Future improvements: add boss encounters, expand loop payoffs, refine controls.
